Turkish bathing culture and traditions
The beautiful patterned bathrobe is, in every way, inspired by the colorful and diverse Turkish history and nature.
Many of the great civilizations that, through times, have lived in Turkey, have had a special preference for bathing and bathing rituals. Thus, they made beautiful public bath houses, which they elegantly decorated with marbles, handmade tiles and mosaics – illustrating both flora and fauna as well as various religious figures. As bathing was highly valued and considered as being healthy for both body and mind, most bigger cities had at least one public bath house. If you visit some of Turkeys many archaeological sites, you will still be able to find ruins of some of these amazing bathhouses.
The ancient bathhouses were very sophisticated for the time, having pools, steam baths and even toilets with running water. These millennia old bathing traditions were further developed by the Ottomans, that almost made the bathing experience into an art form, treasuring its purifying and meditative properties, believed to be just as essential for the soul as for the body. In the modern Ottoman style Hamams, you can still enjoy steam bath, scrubbing and massages and you will be sure to return, feeling just like a newborn.
The Turkish adoring of bathing rituals has also affected the way the Turks furnish their private bathrooms. Thus, they are often very aesthetically ornamented with elegant tiles and mosaics and decorated with ceramic vases and bowls containing fragrant potpourri, soaps and bath oils. Naturally, also the towels, bathrobes and mats are chosen with a careful focus on quality, design, motifs and patterns.
GOTS and OEKO-TEX
The bathrobe is both GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified, which means it is made without hazardous chemistry and therefore safe to use – also for the sensitive or allergic skin.

Also, social and ethical criteria have to be met in the area of fair and hygienic working conditions, no child labor and reasonable pay.
Thus, this delightful bathrobe is a really great choice – not just for you and your body, but also for the nature and the environment.

In both design and texture, the robe is inspired by the famous Turkish Hamam towels – Peshtemal – which are well-known to be both light weighted, ultra-absorbent and very durable. Thus, this wonderful bathrobe is also ideal to use as a dressing gown or maybe for bringing to the beach – as the flatwoven structure and smooth surface, makes it easy to get rid of the sand.

Further information
Unlike conventional cotton, GOTS certified organic cotton, has not been treated with special shrink resistant chemistry. As cotton can shrink at high temperatures, it is recommended that you use lower temperatures for both washing and drying. The bathrobe can be washed at 40 degrees with a short spin and tumbled dried at a low temperature. Bleach should be avoided. Note: In many countries they use cold water detergents for lower washing temperatures, thereby also benefitting the environment.
